6th/7th/8th Grade Virtual General Music - Mr. Rhodes & Mrs. Frega
Welcome! We're looking forward to working with you these next 7-8 weeks in general music class. Music class will be held with the following teachers on the following days:
Mon: Mrs. Frega Tues: Mr. Rhodes Wed: Mrs. Frega. Th: Mrs. Frega Fri: Mr. Rhodes
If you are in band, orchestra, or chorus, you will only be attending music class with Mrs. Frega on Mondays, Wednesdays and Thursdays. You will be attending band, orchestra or chorus rehearsals on Tuesdays & Fridays.
CURRICULUM:
We will be engaging in hands on activities and projects covering the elements of music (rhythm, melody, harmony, form, tone color). In these projects you will be able to compose, perform, create, respond, and connect musical ideas. We will be using interactive musical software, Soundtrap and Hook Theory, with several of our activities.
SUPPLIES:
Please bring the following to music class every day:
Charged chromebook
Headphones/earbuds
Pen/pencil
Folder
GRADING:
6th/7th Grades:
Your grade will be recorded in Infinite Campus based on the following categories:
Projects/Activities: 90%
Participation: 10%
8th Grade:
Your grade will be recorded in Infinite Campus based on the following categories:
Projects/Activities: 50%
Participation: 50%
Your participation grade will be based on a daily demonstration of effort and following the 3 R’s for music class. Every student will receive daily participation points out of a possible 5. If a student follows all the directions and expectations during music class on any given day, you will receive 5/5 participation points.
No matter what your musical background may be, everyone can succeed in general music class! We ask all students to simply demonstrate as much effort as possible when working on the various projects and activities we assign. Class activities will be differentiated according to ability level and learning style.

- Complete your assignments on time

- Come ready to learn with required music materials (headphones, chromebook, writing utensil, folder)
RESPECTFUL:
- Demonstrate respect towards peers and all adults
- Demonstrate respect towards the property of others, including classroom instruments/supplies
- Raise your hand before speaking or getting up from your chair during discussions/presentations
